Pittsburgh

I got a chance to visit Pittsburgh for the first time so I studied all the spots that Shepard Fairey did during his exhibition at the Andy Warhol Museum.

This mural was conveniently right next to the Andy Warhol Museum.

Despite its street level location, it was in a perfect condition.

And this one was even protected with fences around it. that’s legit.

Now at the Andy Warhol Museum.

Andy Warhol’s Silver Clouds were actually walkable installation. Kids were going nuts in this room. So was I. Super cool.

This was my favorite room at the museum. Gigantic Andy’s camourflage piece and Keith Haring’s elephant piece. it was my first time seeing Keith Haring’s work.

Then off to another obey spot at Double Wide Grill on E. Carson St. No tags and no rips…people at Pitts are nice.

Ruggers Pub using Shepard as their trash can decoration. classy.

E. Carson and 14th St. Amazingly well kept.

and this one is my favorite. a beautiful combination of detailed print and red bricks, amazing.

and when you are in Pittsburgh, you gotta try Primanti Bros, according to Adam.

Primanti Bros were featured on MvF Pittsburgh episode. That’s actually why I went.

OMG. ham, coleslaw, tomato, fried egg, and fries all in one sandwich, hard not to like.

Andy Warhol Self-portrait.

at the museum, they had a workshop corner for kids where kids can draw on Andy’s face, and since my trip to Pitts was heavily based on Obey, I drew the giant face. Came out pretty nice. haha.

I even scored the left over t-shirt from Shepard’s show. Turns out traveling based on Obey and Man Vs. Food is very entertaining. A little geeky side of me but no offense, there weren’t much to do in Pitts…

man vs food at L&B Spumoni Gardens

Man Vs. Food is my favorite show to watch on TV. On Brooklyn episode, Adam Richman visits this amazing looking pizza joint. So while I was visiting NYC to drop soulscape’s package, I made a crazy trip down to Corney Island to visit L&B Spumoni Gardens.

it took me about an hour on the subway…what was I thinking.

L&B’s famous Sicilian Pizza. It’s famous for the sauce being on top of the cheese. The result is quite interesting. Definitely the best Sicilian I ever had. The cheese before the sauce keeps the crust very chewy but at the end, a pizza is a pizza. I’m not sure taking the subway all the way down to Corney Island was “worth it”.

Then I made my way back to Manhattan to visit the high line park. it used to be an old train rail which then became a park.

very cool, need to visit it again when the weather gets warm!

NYC part 1

SDC10549

my uncle’s dogs, Sparky and Mouse, took over the couch.

SDC10551

I went to New York’s legendary Katz’s Delicatessen for dinner.

SDC10573

a crowded restaurant means good food!

SDC10568

Katz’s Deli is mostly known for When Harry met Sally’s famous scene, “I’ll have what she is having”

SDC10566

they even had a sign above the table where Harry and Sally sat. very funny.

SDC10563

but I know Katz’s Deli from my favorite show,  Man Vs. Food. Adam introduces Katz’s Deli during NYC episode as his childhood pig out place. I was very excited to find Adam Richman’s photo on the wall. Man Vs. Food is the best show ever, in case you didn’t know.

SDC10559

Katz’s signature Pastrami sandwich and coleslaw. they were freaking good.

SDC10560

I had what Adam had, Rueban sandwich. It is corn beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. basically amazing.

SDC10581

then I went to Cielo. since it was getting deep with LA’s very own Marques Wyatt.

SDC10584

I was lucky to see Marques Wyatt. it was such a great set. classic deep house to cutting edge deep house, this guy knew what he was doing.

SDC10588

my usual clubbing buddies, clay and koo came out as well. we need some lady friends…
