Together Boston

In February, for the first time, the New England DJs, Producers, Promoters and Electronic music lovers are getting “together” to celebrate the wonderful culture of underground electronic music. Together: The New England Electronic Music Festival will be held in venues around the city Feb. 8-14 and will include more than 100 artists at 40 events, as well as seminars and networking mixers. Honestly, Boston has been quite slow lately and I’m very happy to see that something positive is happening in Boston.

I’m actually quite excited about Justin Martin’s come back to Boston for Midweek Techno! If Ben Watt is my god, Justin Marin is like a jesus to me…maybe I shouldn’t use religion into this. Anyway…his style is exactly how I want to be. I secretly copy his style all the time. I have not seen Justin since “07 in Korea so this will be great!

Also Christian Martin, Worthy, and Voodeux are having dirtybird event! and many more!

check out tgthr bstn promo video. get excited!

man vs food at L&B Spumoni Gardens

Man Vs. Food is my favorite show to watch on TV. On Brooklyn episode, Adam Richman visits this amazing looking pizza joint. So while I was visiting NYC to drop soulscape’s package, I made a crazy trip down to Corney Island to visit L&B Spumoni Gardens.

it took me about an hour on the subway…what was I thinking.

L&B’s famous Sicilian Pizza. It’s famous for the sauce being on top of the cheese. The result is quite interesting. Definitely the best Sicilian I ever had. The cheese before the sauce keeps the crust very chewy but at the end, a pizza is a pizza. I’m not sure taking the subway all the way down to Corney Island was “worth it”.

Then I made my way back to Manhattan to visit the high line park. it used to be an old train rail which then became a park.

very cool, need to visit it again when the weather gets warm!

Selection Vol. 1

Selection vol. 1 by djkyu.com
while I was playing with technics tables back in Korea I made a short (and random) mix of trip-hop/downtempo tunes from my early djing era. a selection of great tunes that are (mostly) only available on vinyls. I called it “Selection” because tracks barely mixed in together. Cheers!

MSOS and TTLS

When I went back to Korea over the break, I finally got my hands of soulscape’s highly anticipated “More Sound of Seoul” mix cd. It’s simply amazing. Funkier than his previous mix and very tightly put together. Big respect to soulscape’s hard work!

While I was visiting soulscape at BBS, he was packaging “MSOS” cds to be shipped to Turntablelab. Then I realized since I was flying into NYC, so we decided to hand-deliver the package to the lab.

as a result, “MSOS” is now available at turntablelab! very limited copies, get them now!

if you read the review, it says “but Soulscape just had someone hand-deliver these from Seoul!”. How funny is this…I’m mentioned on turntablelab! except nobody knows that someone is me…anyway, they must have been super surprised the fact that some random ass Korean kid dropped the delivery. It’s been my honor to deliver soulscape’s historic mix cd to the world’s best dj store.

While I was visiting Turntable Lab store in nyc for the delivery, I ran into Benjamin Kim, who apparently is in charge of TURNTABLE LAB SEOUL!!!!!

So the rumor is true, Turntable Lab Seoul is opening very soon (Late Feb). According to Benjamin, TTLS will have same exact inventories as NYC store since everything ships from the lab warehouse in Brooklyn. This is soooo huge. This is very exciting moment for Korean dj community. This will change everything for Korea. Check out TTLS blog for updates on its opening. Korea is what’s up now.
