Funky Drummer

My friend Koo gave me this wonderful toy the other day. I’ve been playing it non-stop. Thanks Koo!

I went to Jisan Rock Festival last weekend.

Beer always tastes better at the festival.

360 sounds x marlboro lounge. 360 djs played here every night during the festival.

my friend koo took a nap here before the main event.

the main stage.

I had a small gig at club VIA booth.

VJ ISPY took a polaroid picture of me. Thanks ISPY!

then there was Basement Jaxx autograph session by MTV and Nylon Magazine. Apparently there was an online event that I was supposed to sign up for this. the event organizer was telling me that I can’t participate since I didn’t sign up…blah blah blah. I told him I didn’t bring the records for nothing. seriously how long does it take to autograph anyway? so I convinced the guy to let me in. In fact, Basement Jaxx liked the fact that I brought the records. that’s how you do it!!

Oh My Gosh is right!

Kish Kash!

Yes!

I saw them when they first came to Korea to DJ but this time they came as a full band! and all the vocals came too!

I felt like I was watching a musical or something. I don’t how they did it but they changed their clothes for every songs. They were just really fun to watch.

Felix during “where’s your head at?”

then he came really close to where I was!

from the other angle. that’s me with mishka keep watch hat. how funny is this picture. everyone wanted to grab Felix for no reason (including me). Someone ended up stealing the mic from Felix. anyway I found this photo from Jisan Rock Festival blog.

as an encore, they played my favorite song, “Bingo Bango”

I couldn’t ask for a better show than this. Basement Jaxx was the perfect summer band. I think other electronic musicians should learn from Basement Jaxx to make electronic music live show more fun like them. I’m still freaking sore from all the jumping I did…
maybe I shouldn’t have jumped so much while I was recording a video…but here is a little taste of how crazy the show was.

so now I have all my Basement Jaxx records autographed by them. I’m too good at this. haha! If you were in Korea and didn’t go to Jisan Rock Festival, you missed out big time. so be there next year! cheers.
yesterday was my seoul brother dj soulscape’s birthday, so I went to 360 sounds HQ, BBS. BBS simply stands for Bang Bae Studio. Bang Bae is also my hometown.

soulscape’s studio

as a gift, I gave him the Tofu mouse pad and kidrobot keychain. It was very my kind of gift but thankfully he liked it as well.

soulscape’s set up is quite unbelievable. Technics turntables, the QFO and his recent purchase, cdjs and djm 800! He is pretty much all set!

dj ytst’s room.

I donated my first obey poster to BBS when the BBS first opened. it was nice too see that andre was watching over the BBS.

Happy Birthday Soulscape!
I love vans. they are versatile, comfy, and cheap. what more can you ask?

and this…this is the coolest vans I ever seen. parra is an artist from Holland who is known for combining bright colors and his mastery of illustrated fonts with a twist of wit.

I don’t skate but I’m getting these for sure.

this is my room in Seoul. every records on the wall are autographed by the artists. it’s an old hobby of mine and I’m really proud of my collection.

and this is my turntable set up. even with fancy cdjs and djm 800 in Boston, I still think this is the best set up I can possibly think of. I really miss turntables…anyway, I finally tried traktor scratch pro with technics tables. it feels amazingly real and smooth.

new bearbrick series 18!
